You can have an unlimited number of Guard911 users per protected location.
Anyone can download the Guard911 apps from the Apple or Google Play Store, however the app requires an activation code (given to the user by their site administrator) to unlock the app.
Hero911 is a free law-enforcement exclusive app and is used by thousands of federal, state & local police officers nationwide. Hero911 is the ONLY app with an established police network. If a police officer with the Hero911 app is ever in close proximity to a protected Guard911 location when an alert is triggered, the officer will immediately be alerted of an armed intruder. This expedites police NOTIFICATION time and reduces their subsequent RESPONSE time as Seconds Save Lives.
Once you are ready to implement the service, our tech team can have your location(s) up and running and safeguarded in as short as a day.
A geofence is an invisible fence "placed" around your location. It uses the latitude and longitude of your location, so the app only works on or adjacent to the created geofence.
Each user is only assigned to a single location. If a user is at a different location, when the app is opened it will determine which location they are currently at. The app will be able to (only) send Armed Intruder and Teacher/Staff Assist alerts to the location they are visiting while the user is at that location. Since the user is only assigned to their original location, they will not receive notifications for the location they are visiting. It is on our development road map to add features to allow for multiple locations.
We recommend setting up a separate gerofence for each physical location that has its own address. This allows for precise alerts to be sent to nearby law-enforcement, so they knowing exactly which location the alert originated from.
Training is simple and fast. All users are required to watch the short training video at guard911.com/training/ before using the app. Our sales reps and tech support team are also available for any assistance you may need.
We recommend the system administrator grant access to all teachers, staff, kitchen workers, janitorial staff, etc., working at the protected location to best safeguard all students, colleagues, and visitors to your location. The system administrator can easily manage users by clicking on the Edit User Information link in the menu.
We recommend that SROs download both apps. As a law enforcement officer, Hero911 will alert them if they are ever in close proximity to ANY Guard911 protected location that triggers an alert. The SchoolGuard app assigns them to a particular school so they can send and receive alerts and utilize the daily features, such as Teacher Assist.
We recommend the protected location allow Guard911 users to utilize their property’s Wi-Fi for enhanced signal to send and receive alerts. The protected location’s IT department should make sure to allow apps.guard911.com to be accessible through their firewall.
Typically, the system administrator is the superintendent of the district, the principal of a respective school, security director, office administrator or IT person within the location. We recommend that several individuals are named system administrators and allowed access to this web portal to make changes.
A Guard911 user MUST be within the location's geofence in order to send the Armed Intruder alert or Teacher/Staff Assist. They can be off property to send a Principal/Admin Push. Since there is NO tracking of users, the recipients will receive any alert, even if they are outside the geofence.
Yes, all schools maintain the Guard911 service 24 x 7 x 365 to help maintain the safety for all people at the protected location at all times.
Guard911 has a team of law-enforcement consultants whose sole job is to introduce or reintroduce the benefits of Hero911 to your surrounding police agencies and officers. Our consultants personally reach out and speak with any agencies who wish to learn more. There are already tens of thousands of police officers in all 50 states including DC, Canada & Puerto Rico maintaining the Hero911 app. The FBI has also approved the Hero911 app for federally issued devices and the Hero911 service is endorsed by several police associations, state leaders and national experts.
